Sentence

A sentence is a group of words which expresses a complete thought.

Phrases

A phrase is a group of words without a finite verb.

 Clauses

A clause is a group of words containing a finite verb.

Noun

A noun is a naming word.

Pronoun 

Pronoun takes the place of a noun

Adjective 

Adjectives qualify or describe nouns and pronouns. They add interest to sentences by describing or giving more information.

Verb

A verb is a 'doing'  word.

Adverb

Adverbs are words that modify verbs. They may also modify adjectives,other adverbs or whole sentence.

Conjunction 

Conjunctions are connecting words that join two or more seentences into a single sentence. Conjunctions also join words, phrases or clauses.

Preposition

Prepositons are words that usually relate two words or phrases to one another

Article

The words  'a', 'an' or 'the' which precede nouns or adjectives
